Trip notes * The descent to the M'Goun Gorges may be impassable or dangerous if there is too much water, melting snow or a if there is a significant risk of thunderstorms over the mountains. The decision must be taken upstream on Day 3, after the summit of M'Goun. In this case, we will go down the valley of Bougamez, with the same number of days walking and the same circuit level; the evening of Day 6, overnight lodging in Bougamez (Aït Immi or Agouti).
Overnights are mostly camping on this trek, there are options along the way to stay in a refuge or gite if preferred. Please contact Taib for further information and a kit list.

Discover this gem in the Central High Atlas, trek in the "Happy Valley" and see the unique Berber villages, the way of life and the stunning mountain landscapes of the M´goun peaks and gorges with this 6 day adventure.
Day 1: Marrakech - Central Atlas - Azib n´Ikkis
Transfer to Agouti from Marrakech. We meet with the mule caravan and start the trek which takes you into the deep valleys of the Central High Atlas, Aït Abbes and Bougamez, before taking the track that climbs towards Arous. Set up camp near Azib n´Ikkis at 2500 meters altitude.
2 hours of walking. M: 300 m.
Day 2: Azib n´Ikkis - Plateau Tarkedit
The trail follows the left bank of the creek to Ikkis near to Tiwawakyhe. The peak offers a remarkable view of the vast North Slope of M'Goun, the plateau of the Tilibiyt n'Tarhddiyt and Tizoula dominating the high valley of Tessaout. Near the sources of Tessaout, there is an ideal place for the camp (2900 m): a grandiose setting of beautiful pasturelands surrounded by peaks. 6 hours of walking. M: 1000 m. D: 300 m.
Day 3: M'Goun (4068 m) - Oulilimt
Early departure to reach the long ridge of Ighil M'Goun, which you follow to the summit at 4068 meters. This limestone mountain is rich in fossils and shells on the ridge. There is an exceptional view across the central High Atlas and the south of the Dades Valley, Saghro and the hamada Draa. There is a rapid descent and it is a bit steep until Oulilimt, near the sources of Assif M'Goun. Camp at 2650 meters. Those who wish can "circumvent" the summit and take the path of mules.
8 hours of walking. M: 1170 m. D: 1270 m.
Day 4: Oulilimt - Tirghemt n´Ait Ahmed
A superb and very varied day. We follow the M'Goun River discovering ever-changing and colourful landscapes and green crops in the ochre adobe villages. We will be crossing small gorges that lead to cross several wadis before reaching the isolated ruin of Tighremt n´Ait Ahmed at 2235 metres. 6 hours of walking.
Day 5: Tirghemt n´Ait Ahmed - Imi Nirkt
Today we follow th Mgoun Valley, a very pleasant and easy trek along the river, passing picturesque remote Berber villages to reach the village of Imi Nirkt at 2026 metres.
Day 6: Imi Nirkt - down the M'Goun Gorges - Aguerzaka
A completely different day for crossing the M'Goun gorges, with the famous passage of Achhabou (the "organs"); a 45 minute walk from the walls of several hundred tops which are separated only by a few meters. A day to get your feet in the water. The valley then flourishes widely to lead to beautiful villages; fields and terraced gardens are bordered by the famous Damask roses that make the fortune of the lower valley of Assif M'Goun. By paths amid tamarisks and oleanders, you reach Aguerzaka. Night in a gite. 7 hours of walking. D: 1 50 m.
Day 7: Aguerzaka - Boutaghrar - Marrakech
Short transfer in local vehicle until Boutaghrar where your transport will be waiting. Return to Marrakech through the Dades Valley, the famous route of the 1000 Kasbahs and the Tizi n'Tichka pass.
