4 Day Mount Toubkal Winter Trekking.

This is a fantastic 4 day trekking adventure to include North Africa´s Highest peak of Mount Toubkal and her sister peaks of Ouanoukrim, both over 4000 metres.

Day 1: Marrakech - Imlil - Refuge

Pick up from your Hotel/Riad in Marrakech and travel to Imlil where you will meet your Berber guide and cook. The trek up to Toubkal Refuge starts with a trek up to Aremd and the Mizane Valley. You’ll head along the flood plains and trek up to the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch. Then it’s onwards and upwards to the Toubkal Refuge which is your stop for the night. Trek time depending on your level of fitness and ability to acclimatise is around 6 hours.

Day 2: Refuge - Ouanoukrim Peaks (4,089m)

Climb the twin peaks of Ouanoukrim. The second and third highest peaks (Ouanoukrim twins 4089m) in the High Atlas lie at the head of the Mizane valley and provide a fantastic trek with excellent views of Toubkal. Today you’ll aim for both summits arriving back to the refuge in time for lunch. This is a good way to acclimatize to the altitude and get used to the conditions.

Day 3: Refuge - Toubkal (4,167m)

Today starts early with an attempt to climb up to the summit of Jbel Toubkal: the highest peak in North Africa. The walking is relatively straightforward but occasionally difficult in places; however the views are certainly worth it. You’ll be able to see across the Marrakech Plains to the High Atlas Mountains in the north and the Anti Atlas Mountains and the Sahara in the south. You’ll retrace your footsteps back down the mountain to the refuge.

Day 4: Refuge - Imlil - Marrakech

After breakfast in the refuge, you’ll head down the valley back to Imlil where you’ll meet your driver and be transferred back to Marrakech.

If you would like to spend more days acclimatising in the area, Taib can design you a suitable program.
